The Vosne-Romanee Les Beaux Monts 2009 from Dujac is a very intense effort. In the nose dark berry fruit … blueberries, raspberries and boysenberris … quite detailed with pure fruit aromas and some nice Vosne spices. On the palate … intense aromas … fruit driven and quite powerful .. but not big and dense. The acidity is fine for the vintage … a well balanced effort but need time to unfold.
The Vosne Les Beaux Monts is quite accessible for a young Clavelier. The nose is offering a intense and Vosne spicy expression of red berry fruit with hints of violets and liqourice and the classic Clavelier elderberries. On the palate quite intense and balanced with a good midpalate concentration of juicy pinot fruit. The minerality is refined and focused – providing a solid framework for the fruit. Clavelier have made some lovely 2011s.
The Vosne-Romane Les Beaux Monts 2012 from Georges Noellat is slightly more backward than the delicate Les Petits Monts. The nose is offering juicy red and dark berry fruit, a discretely perfumed Vosne spicyness and touch of oak. On the palate fine intensity with a delightful silky and pure fruit. Love the rich and refined expression of the 2012 fruit … juicy and silky. In my view quite evenly matched with the Petits Monts – with a little edge to the Petits Monts at the moment – a delightful glass of Vosne … well done Maxime Cheurlin.
The Vosne Les Beaux Monts is another beautiful effort. The nose is offering a intense and spicy expression of red berry fruit with hints of violets and liqourice. On the palate intense and balanced with a good midpalate concentration of vibrant pinot fruit. The minerality is powerful, refined and focused – providing a solid framework for the quite rich fruit. Love the harmony and intensity in this wine – a wine for the cellar.
The Vosne Les Beaux Monts is one of my favorite wines from Grivot – and the 2011 version is yet again a delightful glass of Vosne. The bouquet is bursting with stony minerality, Vosne spices and red berry fruit. It’s airy and quite filigree – lovely complexity. On the palate fine red fruit – very well supported and focused by the excellent mineralic drive. The finish is long and refined with a lovely nerve and energy – love the terroir expression in this wine.
The Vosne Romanee Les Beaux Monts 2010 from Bruno Clavelier is a lovely effort. In the bouquet red forest berries – wild strawberries and raspberries interlinked with cassis – with hints of violets, stony minerality and oak. On the palate cool intense and focused fruit – with a rich core of dark red berry notes – cassis and cherries. It’s long, pure and quite refined with a lovely expression of the Vosne terroir. The finish is intense and quite persistant with a lovely minerality. The transparancy is fine – but perhaps not quite on par with the very best 2010s. A lovely Vosne 1er cru in the making.
I must say I really like the 2010 vintage from Dujac … in my view one of the best vintages from this fine domaine. The Vosne Romanee Beaux Monts 2010 is no exception – a truly elegant and beautiful wine. In the bouquet red berries, peony rose and violets – refined and seductive. On the palate intense airy fruit – seems quite light at first sipp – but the intensity and length is nevertheless impressive. It’s focused, with a lovely transparancy – a classic Vosne, a truly beautiful effort.
The Beaux Monts 2009 from Dujac is now quite focused and balanced. The bouquet is very elegant with raspberries, cherries, cinnamon and hints of violet and gooseberries. On the palate ripe, quite cool refined fruit. The fruit is juicy and quite fresh for a 2009 – very well balanced and good length and minerality. A fine and lovely wine – should keep for at least 15 years.
