Domaine Dublere, Savigny-Les-Beaune Aux Vergelesses 2011

The 2011 Savigny Les vergelesses from Dublere is a nice effort. Lovely expressive bouquet with notes of ripe yellow orchard fruits, citrus and a crunchy minerality. On the palate quite rich with a lovely midpalate weight for this level. It’s very harmonious and expressive for what it is … with a nice focus and energy. Quite impressed by the complexity and intensity …. for this level.

Domaine Dublere, Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chaumees 2011

The Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chaumees 2011 from Domaine Dublere is a quite expressive wine. In the nose rich and quite exotic yellow fruit with a lovely crisp minerality – notes of grape, almonds, orhchards fruits with a hint of oak. On the palate rich and quite dense fruit with very good weight and length. The fruit is ripe and rich with a slight opulence … finely matched by a nice vibrant acidity. Not quite matching energy and transparancy of the magnificent 2010 … but nevertheless a delightful glass of Chassagne.

Domaine Dublere, Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevotte 2012

The Chassagne Chenevottes is a somewhat deeper and more dense than Les Chaumees. The bouquet is slightly closed and reduced/yeasty at the moment – but with underlying notes of white orchard fruits and a citrus infused finely grained minerality. On the palate quite deep and intense fruit – a bigger wine than the Chaumees – but perhaps lacking a bit of the energy and tension found in the gorgeous Chaumees. This is nevertheless a fine Chassagene in the making.

The Nuits-Saint-Georges “Les Terre Blanc” is a charming effort. On the nose slightly aloof and reduced, with notes of melon, pear and different citrus aromas. On the palate quite rich and outgoing but framed by the slightly edgy minerality from the Cote de Nuits terroir. The rich 2012 fruit really suits this wine – a good effort.

The Les Crotots is still quite difficult to evaluate – but shows a lovely potential. The nose is still closed and slightly yeasty. The palate show rich and pure fruit – transparent with a perfect view to the lovely village terroir. Will it match the beautiful 2010 … hard to say at this stage – but the components are certainly there – lovely rich fruit and a crisp vibrant acidity. I’m really looking forward to taste this from bottle.

Domaine Dublere, Morey-Saint-Denis Les Blanchards 2012

The Morey-Saint-Denis Blanchards 1er cru is another of my favorite wines from Domaine Dublere. In the bouquet complex and transparent layers of red fruits with notes of pomegranate, strawberries and raspberries – spiced with a earthy minerality. On the palate a silky but juicy fruit with layers of pure red pinot aromas – focused and quite refined for this appellation. Domaine Dublere, Beaune Blanches Fleur 1er cru 2012

The Beaune Blanches Fleur 1er cru is a quite rare bird coming from a relatively unknown terroir neighbouring Beaune Clos du Roi. Tasting of Domaine Dublere 2012 reds from cask

On my recent trip to Burgundy I had the opportunity to re-visit one of the rising stars of Burgundy – Domaine Dublere.

A little background – Domaine Dublere was founded in 2003 by the American journalist Blair Pethel. The first vintage was 2004, and the domaine has since then gradually expanded the production and the portfolio of wines.

20130928-110531.jpg

Domaine Dublere now makes quite a large a selection of both white and red Burgundies – all of very high quality given the individual appellation. All the wines are very pure, intense, quite light-footed and with a precise and transparent expression of the terroir – in other words more Burgundian than many of the local producers.
