The Lignier Clos de la Roche 1996 is a magnificent effort and is now fulfilling the great promise it showed in its youth. More forward than the bottle I tasted in 2014 … showing beautifully. In the nose layers of airy red berry fruit infused with delicate sous-bois notes, hints of truffle and a delicate earthy minerality. On the palate layers of airy fruit … weighty yet lightfooted due to the balancing acidity of the 1996 vintage. Offer fine depth and a lovely expression of the terrific Clos de la Roche terroir. A great wine for the vintage.

- Clos de la Roche – the core of Morey-Saint-Denis I have so far neglected the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation in my vineyard research .. but now its time to take on the wolves. - Vineyard Insight: Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Didiers There are many vineyards in Burgundy, and even quite highly regarded 1er crus can be almost unknown, if the owners and vignerons producing the wines are under the market radar. Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Didiers is one of these 1er crus … located in the northern part of Premeaux-Prissey, just south of the border to Nuits-Saint-Georges. This 2.84 ha ...

I ...
