Philippe Pacalet, Chambolle Musigny 1er cru 2002

by Steen Öhman on November. 29. 2012

in Bottle, Chambolle Musigny, Fine (91- 92), Philippe Pacalet

The Chambolle 1er cru 2002 from Philippe Pacalet has entered a quite mature state. The bouquet is showing lovely complexity with red fruits – strawberries, raspberries and red currant – spiced with sous-bois and fresh white truffles. On the palate juicy, rich and quite mature organic fruit. It’s silky and quite focused with a zappy and somewhat spicy acidity. Compared to recent vintages of Pacalet this wine is lacking a bit of focus and refinement – but it’s still a very delightful glass of pinot. For me it’s perfect now – but will keep some years more. One bottle more please!
