Just back from my March trip to Burgundy where I had the opportunity to taste and retaste many 2015s – some bottled, some prepared for bottling and even some still in cask.
At the Trilogie en Côte de Nuits I tasted many different estates – and more than 100 wines to calibrate my view on the 2015s and to find new estates to visits. A great opportunity to try a lot of different wines – less so for serious tasting notes.
At the end of the day very interesting – but also overwhelming tasting as it’s such a rich vintage – so no urge to drink more wine that evening – so had a cold beer in the evening at Place Carnot in Beaune with my valued guest writer Robert Collins.
Visits on my recent trip – March 27th – 31st 2017
During the rest of the week I visited a nice selection of estates to taste the 2015s – and in some cases also to get an initial impression of the 2016s. At Domaine Michel Gaunoux I however had the opportunity to enjoy some older wines … really looking forward to write the article about this magnificent estate – stay tuned for that!.

Impressions … summing up the 2015 reds
The 2015s showed very well at this time, and perhaps even fresher than expected – or rather as fresh as one possibly could have hoped for when tasting the wines during 2015.
They are big wines but most do have a very fine charming freshness – and offer a lovely drinkability. Yes it is a hot vintage, but still they offer a nice freshness driven by a good PH rather than a high acidity. You need to login to read the rest of this article.
