Detailed info on Domaine Thomas Collardot

As mentioned in my report on new talents, improved estates and rising stars – the Domaine Thomas Collardot is, in my view, a coming rising star in Puligny-Montrachet.

It is of cause quite early to say, as the first vintages are just on the market – but the purity, the energy and definition of these wines is tremendously impressive – especially for such a young estate.

So what do we know about this fine new estate?

About the Thomas-Collardot estate

Jacqueline Collardot is the owner and winemaker of this 2.5ha estate located in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet.

Jacqueline inherited the vineyards from her father Pierre Thomas in 2010, who made the wines until 1992. The vineyards originates three generations back from the Henry Chavy estate and the vineyards Maurice Thomas brought into the marriage.

From 1992 to 2010 the vineyards were in the hands of her cousins Philippe and Hubert Chavy – before they were taken back by Jacqueline to form her new estate.

The first vintage produced by Domaine Thomas-Collardot was 2015.

The wines produced so far

In 2015 Jacqueline produced the Bourgogne Blanc Les Petits Poiriers and a village from the lieu-dit Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignières – from a prominent location below Batard-Montrachet.

In 2016 there was one addition to the portfolio – another village Puligny-Montrachet was introduced – from the village terroir Les Houlières, located south of the village.

In the 2017 vintage two furter wines will appear in the portfolio, a further village Puligny-Montrachet, from the vineyard Derrière La Velle – located on the northern side of the village or Puligny-Montrachet.

Finally a 1er cru will be released in 2017 – from the Blagny vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet Hameau de Blagny – at least once regarded as the very best vineyard in the Blagny appellation – and highly placed in the old classifications.
