The Meursault Les Narvaux 2007 from Michel Couteaux is a good honest white burgundy. In the bouquet yellow fruit with slightly matured notes, citrus and a steely acidity. On the palate it’s quite focused and enjoyable with a good midpalate fruit and a fresh linear acidity. The oak seems quite powerful but not excessive due to the very nice balance between the rich fruit and the powerful acidity. Normally this style is not a favorite for my palate, but the wonderful 2007 acidity really compensates for the somewhat opulent style. A good effort – enjoyable now.
