The harvest 2024 will start during the next few days … i.e. around September 10th.
In Côte de Nuits it will most likely be focused on a start September 16th. Major estates like Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair and Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüe will start in this week.
While harvest timing is quite as expected – the detailed planning of the harvest is more uncertain, as the weather still looks unstable.
As normal the best and most expensive vineyards will get the highest priority when the plot order of harvest is decided … some plots are just more essential.
If there is a good flexibility in the harvest plan, then the harvest could be stretched out over a longer period – taking breaks when the rain affects the conditions. It will be a struggle no doubt.
The whites…
The whites seem to have coped better with the mildew and the generally poor and rainy conditions. So, the whites could potentially be in for a reasonable and even good vintage if the harvest weather performs. But ripeness will become an issue.

Winehog during the harvest
I will not be doing a lot of physical harvesting in the vineyards this year, as I will try to cower the harvest more broadly in the Winehog Mini.
I will be cutting some Baie-par-Baie grapes at Domaine Pierre-Olivier Garcia … to meet with a lot of the Danes who are in town during the harvest … 27 daring and a bit crazy harvesters that will try to make the 2024 harvest a year to remember.
Otherwise, I will be around the whole Côte … in the Mini from Maranges to Marsanney.
