J.J. Prum, Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese 1994 #2097

By Steen Öhman October 17, 2011 - Leave a Comment

This 1994 Auslese from Prum is a wonderful wine. Quite mature notes in the bouquet, but still some fresh sweet riesling aromas - classic Prum. On the palate medium sweet - the way an Auslese should be. Very fine freshness from the impressive 1994 acidity - Prum and 1994 is a perfect match. My kind …

J.J. Prüm, Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese 2005 #21

By Steen Öhman September 18, 2011 - Leave a Comment

The 2005 Auktion Spätlese #21 from Prüm is a very fine wine indeed. For a spätlese it's very sweet, and is displaying botrytis and wonderful fine minerality in the Bouquet. On the palate it's rich, sweet and silky. Very elegant and pure botrytis notes combined with the perfectly ripe riesling fruit. …

Fritz Haag, Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Auslese 1994 #16

By Steen Öhman September 17, 2011 - Leave a Comment

The Auslese #16 is beginning to show. Very fine matur notes in the bouquet, but not yet at the petrolium state. Quite rich on the palate and the sometimes quite brutal 1994 acidity is well integrated in the good core of sweet ripe riesling fruit. Not a sweet style Auslese, but has a very nice …

Fritz Haag, Bruneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Spätlese 1990 #12

By Steen Öhman September 13, 2011 - Leave a Comment

Fritz Haag made excellent wines in 1990, and the Spätlese #12 is no exception. Fine mature notes in the Bouquet, but stil fresh and vibrant. On the palate classic spätlese, very fresh, balanced and with moderate sweetness. The lovely ripe acidity of the vintage and the fresh fruit makes a very …

The A.P. number a good guide to German wine

By Steen Öhman August 3, 2011 - Leave a Comment

Some of the German wine producers make a lot of different wines, and several in each category - Kabinet, Spätlese, Auslese, Auslese GK, BA and TBA. In some cases there are not a big difference between the different wines in the category, but in other cases there are quite a jump in quality. It's an …
