The 1950 is one of the best old Bordeaux I have tasted to date. This bottle was served at a big and very memorale tasting in 2006 – and was quite amazing. The bouquet was dense and very complex, with notes of cherries, licorice, moss, truffles and a hint of fresh coffee. The palate was showing very good concentration of layered fruit, quite dense with refined aromas of black fruits. Very long and refined finish, focused with a good structure of firm but ripe and quite lush tannins. A quite monumental wine, still fresh and vibrant after 56 years. The wine improved in the glass revealing still more nuances – an exceptionel bottle.
