The La Mondotte 1998 is a big and lush wine. The bouquet is quite open and crammed with ripe fruit. There is notes of dark berries, plum, liquorice, cherries, cedar and hints of pencil. On the palate very luch ripe fruit, it’s opulent and almost thich with a good length and balance. It’s a modern style Bordeaux, but still they maintain a good balance in the wine. In my view – while big and quite nuanced – it lachs some complexity to rival the top wines in the appellation. Very fine but a bit over the top for me!
