Domaine de la Cras is a new estate located just south of Dijon in the appellation Coteaux de Dijon. The estate is apparently owned by the city of Dijon, and is now under the management of Marc Soyard – who have worked at Domaine Bizot in Vosne-Romanée. The estate makes four wines – two reds and two whites – and the cuvée Cras in the glass is the top red cuvée made from the steepest part of the vineyard.
The bouquet is Bizot inspired – Organic and low sulphor with attractive red and dark fruits – forward and floral – spiced with cinnamon and all spice. On the palate medium to light weight – fine cool balance with a expressive whole cluster fruit. A very forward wine with plenty of charm and vibrant freshness. I really like this style but for non geeks .. it does perhaps lack a bit mid-palate weight. Nevertheless lovely juice.
