The Volnay 1999 from Michel Lafarge is a very rustic and rather disappointing effort. In the nose cherries, tar and few hints of sous-bois – rough and not 100% clean. On the palate edgy and rustic with some dusty tannins and a openly knit slightly fading fruit. Not very enjoyable … very old school … taste like an old Nebbiolo lacking fruit.
