For the third year in a row powerful and devastating hailstorms have hit Burgundy. Most of the appellations were hit this time … but so far reports indicate some damage in parts of Cote de Nuits – while the losses seem to be very serious in parts of Cote de Beaune – worst in Volnay and Pommard.
It’s indeed sad to see this happen to the same producers and appellations year after year. Early reports say that between 40% and 90% of the grape harvest could have been destroyed in the worst affected areas.
Bon courage to the vignerons affected by this violent weather.
First reports from Arnoux-Lachaux says that around 10% to 25% of the grapes are lost in vineyards like Clos de Vougeot and Romanee-Saint-Vivant.
