Sunday Morning in 5 Rue Julie Godemet … worried this morning after an evening of violent rain in Burgundy. Actually, I have rarely seen rain as intense as yesterday evening … the downpour was however smaller than during the last storm in Nuits-Saint-Georges not even a week ago.
Catching rain on an iPhone camera is not easy, but the photo below with my Mini parked outside a beautiful old building does indicate the size of the drops and the magnitude.
The continued rain and the severe mildew situation are really bad news for the 2024 vintage. And yes, it is even raining a bit this morning – just to add insult to injury.
The mildew situation is getting increasingly bad with many vignerons – and some are even talking about the loss of the full vintage in severely damaged plots …
On the positive side, the temperature dropped from 30 Celsius Saturday down to 17 Celsius this morning … this could help a bit with the disease pressure.
