I love Chambolle-Musigny perhaps the most vibrant and sensual appellation …
While the Chambolle appellation is rather large the number of top end producers located in the village of Chambolle is rather limited, and somehow it’s not often a bright new star is rising from this village.
There are great estates in this village – but they have more or less been the same during the last three decades and even longer – I’m off cause thinking of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier and Domaine J.-F. Mugnier.
One could argue that Mugnier is the new kid on the block – as he entered this exclusive trio in the mid 1980s .. only 30 years back … but seriously it appears there no new stars in Chambolle to challenge these legendary estates.
I do have two on my list … Domaine François Bertheau and Domaine Groffier … the latter is not located in the village of Chambolle but in Morey-Saint-Denis .. but the core of the estate is in my mind in the Chambolle appellation.
So Bertheau is the main candidate to challenge the big three … and while his Bonnes-Mares is the top wine of the estate – Les Amoureuses is somehow the delight of this fine estate.
So lets take a closer look at the Les Amoureuses from Domaine Bertheau .. perhaps one of the most hedonistic and delicate wines produced in Burgundy.
Chambolle Musigny Les Amuoureuses – two sections
The vineyard Les Amoureuses is divided in two sections – one above the road to Chateau Clos de Vougeout and just north of Musigny – and one below the road and below the plot located adjacent to the northern end of Musigny – see map below.
The second section is by far the largest an it cover the area from the road down towards the village of Vougeot .. a quite steep hill and to the north the 1er cru Les Hauts Doix is following Amoureuses and the road between Chambolle and Vougeot.

I do believe Ghislaine Barthod is definitely going to enter this so called trio of Chambolle top producers.
When we see what she can achieve with excellent 1er crus vineyards, we can only speculate she would be thriving with some bonnes mares holdings. Happy to hear back different views from other Chambolle lovers

I think that Domaine Groffier is a top producer from all is chambolle wine…..Hauts-Doix, Sentiers an Amoureuses.

Indeed – but Groffier is however not a Chambolle based producer ..
