The Jayer Auction earlier this summer showed that only the sky is the limit for the prices of rare Burgundies – if the provenance is impeccable and the wines are of unique quality and reputation.
Records are however set to be broken, and the upcoming Auction from the Robert Drouhin private collection will most certainly break some and possibly even the bank, as this include old pre-war wines from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
Mr. Robert Drouhin and his father, Maurice, acquired these wines directly from DRC, mostly during their time as the Domaine’s exclusive distributors in France and Belgium – and this does – as Sotheby’s underlines – “amplify the collection’s pristine provenance”.
Furthermore “In addition to legendary vintages from the world’s most celebrated producer, many of which very seldom appear at auction, the curated sale will feature a selection of Maison Joseph Drouhin wines all from Grand Crus”.
The video below is an appetizer for the auction held in New York held on October 13th 2018.
The video can be seen in full resolution on Sotheby’s homepage alongside with more info about the auction.
Bottom line a chance to get some unique and old wines from Drouhin and DRC with a pristine and unique provenance.
