Musigny is a relatively large vineyard yet the Musigny wines are becoming a very rare treat these days, as the demand for this illusive and mineral driven wine is increasing by the hour it seems.
The Domaine de la Vougeraie is one of the oldest owners of Musigny, with a ownership that dates back to at least 1890 – as a part of Pierre Ponnelle – today a part of Domaine de la Vougeraie. So lets take a closer look at the Domaine de la Vougeraie holdings in Musigny.
Musigny – the three sections
The Musigny vineyard has three sections … Les Musigny or Grands Musigny – the main and northern part of the vineyard. Les Petits Musigny – just south of Les Musigny – a monopole owned by Vogue. Lastly we have the extension of the vineyard with some plots in the climate La Combe d’Orveau (added to Musigny in 1929 and 1989) – see map below.
