Clos de Vougeot has a magic ring to it, despite the fact that many wines from this large vineyard are what one could call somewhat disappointing,
In the last 10-15 years quality has, however, improved notably and is often now more in line with expectations.
One of the most famous sections of the clos is the lieu-dit Musigni, which is located just below Musigny and above the Vougeot chateau,
The main part of Musigni is owned by the Gros family and is currently farmed by Gros Frère et Soeur. But from 2022, Domaine A.F. Gros will also have a part of this vineyard, as they will swap some vines with Gros Frère et Soeur.
So, to the big clos!
The Musigni plot
The Gros family became a part of Clos de Vougeot history in 1920 when they took over part of the Léonce Bocquet holdings along with 13 other Vosne-Romanée producers. A total of 22 buyers shared the Bocquet estate.
