Good morning Burgundy … prospects are improving in the white Côte de Beaune.
Today harvest of the whites really started in Meursault … and despite rumours and talks, some cuvees are actually beyond 11% and even reaching 12%. They do have quite low ripeness but are surely well usable and within the chaptalisation range – this is an important finding.
We will see how the sugar levels develops during the following week …
A new name and super talent
Charles Boigelot is a new name and important talent on the Winehog radar. Only 22 years old and already showing a steady hand in the cellar.
Yesterday he picked the Meursault Caillerets and I was at the estate when it arrived. The Meursault Caillerets 2024 has excellent ripeness and a lovely balance – judged from the grapes … a very exciting wine … fine quality can indeed be found in 2024.
This is really a vigneron to follow and collect …
