Sometimes, great surprises can reveal themselves from your very own neighbourhood and the people you know from another context.
Aurélie Ledy is a charming “neighbour” from the wine business in Nuits-Saint-Georges. She is a part of Domaine Vincent Ledy – just around the corner from my home.

I always greet Aurélie and know her as a charming and lovely girl with strong initiative and a lovely presence that makes you smile, although one senses personal depth and reflection in what she does.
I have only seen Aurélie in this context, and I was not aware of what was brewing in the mindset of Aurélie. I was quite surprised when I found that Aurélie has started her own domaine just around the corner with the 2023 vintage ready to taste and enjoy!
I was very quick to ask for a tasting … and luckily, Aurélie agreed … so here we are …
As always, when tasting a new estate, I try to have an open mind, and just enjoy and explore. It is important to let the wines and the winegrower speak for themselves …
New estates need room and space to find their style, but in the case of Aurélie, there is no need for this … she is well on her way … bravo.
The design and the labels – Ledy Vins
Ledy Vins has a very prominent design line, the labels are visually strong and definitely give the wines prominence and character. They stand out with a lovely artistic note … will be interesting to see the design line develop in the 2024 and 2025 vintages.

The Wines
Ledy Vins Aligoté “Vigne de 1955” 2024
The Vignes de 1955 is a treat, and the 2024 vintage suits the Aligoté grape very well stylewise. The 2024 Aligoté from Aurélie Ledy is a mineral beauty with a lovely freshness and delightful depth. The fruit shows fine depth and intensity – vines from 1955 show their silkiness – rich, yet fresh with the coolness of the vintage. My mind wanders back to Oysters … and why not!
(Drink from 2025) – Very Good – (90p) –
Ledy Vins Savigny-lès-Beaune Le Champs des Pruniers 2023
The Savigny Le Champs des Pruniers is a very elegant and delicate wine. Planted in 1955, gives a silky and harmonious vibe – with all the qualities normally associated with a good Savingny-lès-Beaune. Has very good depth … with a sensual midpalate … I quite adore this expression of old vines. Only 10% whole cluster … and this works well with this wine. 1730 btl made.
(Drink from 2029) – Very Good – (90p) –
Ledy Vins Nuits-Saint-Georges Le Côteau du bois 2023
This is an old friend – the Côteau du Bois planted by Nicolas Faure. This is a young vineyard … I can see it from my living room … and have now even climbed this 40 degree steep mountain behind Nuits-Saint-Georges. 100% whole cluster does give this wine a more intense expression. This is a very interesting terroir that offer a load of fine minerality … has a good lightfooted expression and it shows some of the best sides of Nuits-Saint-Georges despite the young vines. Exciting terroir for sure …
(Drink from 2032) – Very Good – (89p) –
Ledy Vins Volnay 2023
The Volnay is classic with a delicate fruit. Has a lovely fruit and style … quite silky with a discrete style. Needs some time to jump from the glass, but the core is lovely and even a bit sensual. A lovely classical Volnay! Only 900 btl made from the vineyards Lurets, Paux Bois, Grands Poisots and Petits Poisots.
(Drink from 2030) – Very Good – (89p) –
…
The 2023s are a very good start for Ledy Vins … not perfect, but flawless. They are very enjoyable with a tension and liveliness that I like a lot. Vin d’émotion with a lovely vibe and drinkability … this what we need … this is what I crave.
… definitely looking forward to the 2024s and the 2025s … cheers
