Presumably - this is unconfirmed but from a very good source - harvest started yesterday August 8th in Puligny-Montrachet. A plot on Folatieres was amongst the first … from what I hear in NSG.
Same sources speak about harvest of small plots also in Puligny already August 7th or 6th
This must be a record

Beautiful lineup from Domaine Soyer. Lovely purity and refinement … perfumed and delicate … very good level … a step up the emotional ladder … bravo ♥️
Aug 7
Great lineup from the Boigey brothers … best vintage so far … classic and refined … the Suchots is outstanding as is Les Jachées. All the wines are showing great class - bravo
Aug 5
Hot weather with occasional showers and drizzle all the way to the harvest.
But how much rain will we have???
Aug 5
My love in wine … Vin d’emotion in more than one sence
Aug 2

Aug 1
The sky is leaking … not much … rain … perhaps … music is getting frisky

Always a great visit at Alexandrine Roy ... the wines stunned me with their charming and forward cool complexity. The wines reflects the lovely personality of Alexandrine ... vin d`émotion for sure ... with the whole lineup showing both charm, complexity and beauty. Merci Alexandrine a lovely start of the day ... possibly the best vintage from Alexandrine so far!

Small summer shower … enough to clear the air and lower the temperature a couple of degrees

The 2024 La Corvée de Bully Aligote from Nicolas Faure. A masterpiece ... that perhaps could match the unbeatable 2014 ... this is a great wine well beyond what Aligoté normally delivers in refinement and delicacy ... wow
Jul 27
Mugnier is one of the very top producers in Burgundy. I love the wines in the vivid and fruity years. The Marechale is a true deligh in 2017 ... red and darker fruit in a emotional play ... vin d`émotion
Jul 27
Feisty Bourgogne Blanc … cool and vivid for a 2023 - perhaps a bit on the underripe side … only slightly … does give you a nice fresh expression of Chardonney
Jul 25
Jean-Marie Guffens is for me one of the greatest winemakers and personalities in the world today. While we have many good vignerons we only have very few true personalities.
Guffens I salute you
Your talent is totally unmatched in the southern Burgundy ... the feel of effortless control and delight ... no issues with overripe phenolics ... a problem that seem to tarnich more than 50% of the white Macons these days.
Give me a Guffens ... a cool place to enjoy the terroir ... and I will be in my happy place ... drunk perhaps ... but in a very joyful place - after the second or third bottle ... as lust takes over from strict sanity.
I struggle to find whites that can match the effortless joy of a good Guffens ... when will others learn.
Thanks to Jean-Marie Guffens there is still wild and untamed friends in the wine business that are not all marketing ... and overripe Chardonnay
Jul 20
One of my best 2026 wine moments ... Case Basse Soldera 2013. Has a lovely maturity and complexity ... very delicate flavours and a gorgeous vinus feel ... no global warming feel ... classic old school ... my god its sensual. It has the Bourgundian feel ... come home ... one of the great reds! ❤️

Cheers … the greatness of Spain … great wines … and a well played match … congrats

Moving to Burgundy has given me many impressions, stories, information and photos that I feel compelled to share. Enjoy!
Sometimes a photo will require further explanation, and this will be done in the articles on the Winehog website.
The important thing is to give you commentary on the views of Burgundy and the beautiful vineyards I see every day.

Brillant and mature. A bit dusty but a lovely juicy fruit … love the complexity and depth … refined without being too flashy … its just there

Update
finally the rain came ... quite ample and not just small showers here and there.
Have some data from a weather station of a Winehog friend … gives you an idea
36 mm in NSG
33 in Vosne
28 in Chambolle
11,8 in Morey
18 in Gevrey
And 18,5 in Puligny
So not quite enough … but significant
As always there is a big variation ... some had too little others whats needed ... but this should in some places reset the development towards the harvest.
The question is - will this unlock the blockage in the vines we have seen due to the drought and heat … moving us forward towards the harvest in one month time.
And how will 2026 be … now we at least have some juice to work with
Jul 17
The thunderstorms Wednesday brought some big and violent hail storms, especially in the Dijon and Northern Burgundy area. Marsanney was badly hit ... 50% damage in certain areas after very damaging and violent hails.
Sitting in the outskirts of Copenhagen Denmark its a bit difficult to get an overview … but hails looked very big and brutal in places.
Hail damage can sometimes be very local … lets hope for the vignerons in the area.
Jul 17
Rain was expected with a hail risk. So far NSG got a good rain shower ... some measured 30 mm. Most regions south of NSG got very little rain ... Hail fell heavyly in Dijon ... so far no reports about hail damage in the vineyards ...
I will continue exploring to find some rain to the thirsty vineyards
Jul 16
why not ...a detour in NSG

The Michelin Guide gave a boost to some `new` names ... Dugat-Py. I remember last time when Dugat-Py was a new name ... mid 1990s with extracted and concentrated wines ... presumably to please Mr. Parker. I bought some to test ... Mazis and Charmes ... tasted some and found the wines without any Burgundian charm or emotions. I have tasted some later ... cellaring did not help. In the 2003 vintage the prices was increased a lot ... and this was the end of trying this producer. I sold all my Dugat-Py ... Mazis and Charmes later to a gentleman with a big house in Gevrey ... he just wanted to try them ... presumably he have had more charming wines that morning.
Today global warming and a new generation at Dugat-Py is making much more lively and charming wines ... wellcome Dugat-Py to the big stage of Michelin.
Jul 12
The Michelin Guide have caused some stir in the Burgundy pond. I like the unsettled sea ... but a Bibendum in a bathtub is perhaps too much.
First and foremost the guide has given some good and bad discussions ... this is always good ... if you care to listen.
Some people think they can control the reviews, the guides and the critics ... could to some degree be the case ... but the truth is always hiding in the bottle and revealed in the glass.
And the arrogance will fall when time comes
Jul 12
Different worlds … Cavin and Vin d’Emotion combined with a doubtful pruning. the Noellat wine is the biggest and most polished … but the Garcia wines has its moments … love these battles …
Jul 10
Very nice and aromatic Aligoté… a delight a a nice greeting from the north … 🤗
Jul 10
The heatwave this week could speed up the proces towards harvest. I now hear that early starters could start as early as August 17th in Côte de Nuits … wow this is going to be vraiment le bordel or worse.
Jul 9
Love Burgundy ...
Get the emotional wines with energy and sparkle ... avoid extracted and over oaked wines.
Avoid overripe phenolics and get the freshness and energy of a perfectly ripe wine.
Jul 8
Cabotte like back in the old days … refined even flirting with decadence … very delicate Tonato … worked perfectly and discretely … worth a tour from home and even longer.
Not star gloating and shining star quality all the time … dont want it even … welcome back Cabotte I enjoyed it tremendously.

Charlies Engels ... DRC is becoming legendary on the big hill ... Bertrand and Perrine was doing their best to satisfy the demand from the many fans of Corton-Charlemagne. Bonneau du Martray - the mother of the DRC plots should also be mentioned – still lovely wines. Many delightful producers with the vignerons struggling to keep temperatures down ... was a very hot day indeed. Some impressions ...

- A true vin d’émotion – a Burgundy of passion
- A truly hedonistic wine – lively and enjoyable
- A vivacious wine for pure indulgance
- A potential vin d´émotion - frais et léger
