Three fine visits today in Vosne, Chambolle and Saint-Aubin. Still very rainy in Burgundy with minor floodings of roads, cellars and vineyards.
Visit at Domaine Georges Noellat
First visit .. Maxime Cheurlin at Domaine Georges Noellat .. the in my view brightest star among the new winemakers in Burgundy.
The 2013s from George Noellat confirm the very high quality of the 2012s from this Domaine.
Maxime Cheurlin of Domaine George Noellat
The wines are delicate, energetic, transparent and gorgeously terroir driven …magnificent quality for the vintage … combining the silky style of the domaine with the extraordinary energy of the vintage. Gorgeous wines from the perhaps most talented young winemaker in Burgundy
Visit at Domaine de Vogue
Second visit was at Domaine de Vogue tasting the 2013s with Francois Millet.
It’s always a great pleasure and treat to taste at Vogue and hear Francois Millets evaluation of the vintage.
The Vogue collection in 2013 offered a very interesting combination between high phenolic ripeness and crisp acidity. The wines are complex and vibrant and will require some time to unfold. Lovely potential and future in these wines.

Domaine Hubert Lamy
Next up another favorite tasting – Domaine Hubert Lamy. Lovely 2013s with the highlights being the high density bottlings. The Criots Batard-Montrachet 2013 is a truly magnificent effort rivaling the best wines tasted at Domaine Leflaive.
As always very exiting to hear the energetic Olivier Lamy explain about the wines, the experiments with different closures and high density planting of the vineyards.
We also had a very interesting tasting of the corks influence on the wine .. testing three different closures used on the same wine. The experiment included a traditional cork and two “artificial” closures Diam 5 and Diam 10. The result was very interesting … so stay tuned for more.
