The 1999 Griotte Chambertin from Fourrier is a beauty. The nose is bursting with sous-bois, truffle, delicate red forest berries and a filigree earthy minerality – so complex and deep. On the palate quite lightfooted for a 1999 – refined, silky and rich, with layers of airy red fruit. It’s quite developed – slightly hot cellar .. but drinking beautifully offering all the complexity one can ask for. A hint of tar in the finish indicates the vintage and additional cellaring potential. A gorgeous wine .. love it.
