I new ring stars is Domaine Julien in Comblanchien. The 2012 vintage was only the second made by Étienne Julien and he has done well already this year. The style is fruity and energetic – the oak is well integrated in this NSG Les Bousselots 2013. This is one of my favorite wines made by Étienne from a somewhat overlooked 1er cru terroir beneath Aux Thorey just north of the Nuits-Saint-Georges town. The bouquet offer red and dark berry fruit – energetic, juicy and detailed. On the palate vibrant fruit – lovely tension and energy supported by a lovely playful minerality for a Nuits-Saint-Georges. A hedonistic treat … drinking very well indeed.
