I shouldn’t. I really shouldn’t. We all do it – and perhaps should do it more! This time, a 2007 magnum from Vosne-Romanee.
Summer wines are casual, and for drinking with no remorse: Taste and drink with pleasure and joy rather than thinking of value and future potential. Wines should be there to enjoy without consideration or financial speculation – casual summer wines!
The Domaine Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée Clos du Chateau 2007 is quite mature, performing beautifully from a magnum kept in a cool cellar. My feeling regarding the 2007 in bottle is: Drink it. It will keep for a while yet, but will never perform much better. With around 15 years of lifespan in a lesser year, I feel this is adequate and appropriate. The many bottles of this I’ve tasted have all performed beautifully. Good gracious, what a treat, with its hedonistic melange of cinnamon, peony, and roses. This has it all!
