The 1993 Scharzhofberger Spätlese #17 from Egon Muller is approaching maturity. In the nose petrolium, dried fruits, a wonderfull minerality. The bouquet is very complex offering hints of honey, coffee and almonds, combined with citrus notes from the acidity. On the palate it’s displaying medium sweetness, and a wonderful fresh acidity. This is an old style spätlese, with a good fresh and vibrant balance – and a moderate sweetness. The finnish is long and intense dominated by complex mature riesling aromas and a dazzling acidity.
