The 2001 Romanee Saint Vivant from Confuron was a big and quite austere wine. The nose was rather closed at first but then started to show some red fruits, cherries and a slight hint of mocca. On the palate good concentration and length, a fine minerality and terroir expression. Aromas of red fruits but also slightly rustic notes like tarr. Will need some years before the full potential is unleashed. A very fine effort from Confuron.
