The 2005 Auktion Spätlese #21 from Prüm is a very fine wine indeed. For a spätlese it’s very sweet, and is displaying botrytis and wonderful fine minerality in the Bouquet. On the palate it’s rich, sweet and silky. Very elegant and pure botrytis notes combined with the perfectly ripe riesling fruit. Was served after Haag Auslese #16 1994, and the Prüm spätlese was much sweeter and also the better wine. A great wine from Prüm – but not a Spätlese.
(From 2020) Very Fine or even Outstanding – 94p
