The Ducru-Beaucaillou 1978 was fully mature and a pleasure to drink – a classic claret. The bouquet was very open with cedar, some tobacco and cassis. On the palate resolved tannins medium body good balance, and still some fruit left. Not a big wine for tasting, but a fine mature claret for drinking with food. In decline now, and was perhaps better 5 years ago … but nevertheless still drinking well.
