The 2025 harvest is now getting close, with around 30 days left of maturing, the timing is pushed a bit due to the cooler and more unstable weather in the last week.
We have had quite some rain … and this has so far been mainly positive as the wines needed some water for the last dash towards the harvest.
I have adjusted the whites further … and as many have planned after the 25th of August, we will probably see the harvest start with lesser vineyards on the flat area below the appellations… i.e. the wrong side of the road if the top vineyards are not fully ready. Optimal start in Côte de Nuits is most likely around the 28/29th of August,
The anticipated harvest start
As mentioned, the evaluation of data and guesswork does not make large changes. The only change is in the start date of the whites in Côte de Beaune.
Expected start date for the harvest of whites (Côte de Beaune) and reds (Côte de Nuits).
Harvest Côte de Beaune | Harvest Côte de Nuits | |
May 28th | August 20th | August 25th |
June 29th | August 22th | August 25th |
July 27th | August 25th | August 25th |
The harvest will presumably not be earlier than the 2003 and the 2020 vintage … but it will be an early one!
