The Clos de la Barre 2006 from Comte Lafon looks surprisingly mature – with a quite dark yellow color. The bouquet is however a mixture of fresh elements and matured notes – apricot, hazelnuts, almonds, tropical fruit elements and a slight citrus notes. On the palate rich and ripe, but lacking focus and freshness – the fruit is quite matured and loosely structured. This example is far more advanced than the bottle tasted in August 2011. No detectable problems with the cork – both bottles are from same cellar an source. Could be a light case of premox. Still the wine was drinkable – just not what I expected.

- Odds and ends around Christmas and New YearI tasted quite a few interesting wines at social gatherings while celebrating Christmas and New Year. Lafon galore .. the good, the ugly Starting out with the whites I tasted three wines from Comte Lafon two 2004s – Les Perrieres and Les Charmes, and one sadly premoxed example of the 2001 Meursault Perrieres. The 2004 Meursault Charmes was ...
