My list of emotional winegrowers is now a year old, and while the work in the last areas (Beaune, Savigny-les-Beaune, and the Hautes Côtes de Beaune and Nuits) is still lacking its finishing touches, I feel the obligation to promote a domaine to the highest level:
Domaine Jérôme Galeyrand
It’s easy for a producer to get attention if he/she has grands crus or top-end 1ers crus. But if the top vineyards are Gevrey-Chambertin villages or Côte de Nuits Village, naturally the attention is more moderate.
However, I have often felt thrills, goosebumps, enjoyment, and hedonistic infatuation in tasting wines made by Jérôme Galeyrand. Enough to know that his are the real deal – des vraix vins d’emotion.
They have the energy and the seductive note that leaves you craving another glass, another bottle, and another case in the cellar.
These are wines you want to have on the table when your friends visit on a late summer evening, or when you feel the urge to treat yourself.
Bravo, Jérôme Galeyrand!
