Visit Domaine François Bertheau – tasting the 2024s

The wines from Domaine François Bertheau have given me a lot of hedonistic pleasure over the years.

It has been several years since I have visited Domaine Bertheau, and I honestly don’t know why … A mistake, surely, as I really enjoy the wines from Domaine François Bertheau.

The 2024 vintage is a different vintage, not really reminding me of the hotter vintages like 2022 and 2023 … or 2018 and 2019 for that matter.

One could say that 2024 resembles 2021 a bit, but it is a bit too early to state this too firmly … these are one of the first full sets of 2024s I have tasted so far.

What I can say is that the wines are cooler, and seem more fragile than the other vintages … but they seem to have an inherent drinkability … perhaps more so than the 2021s, as the 2021s have a slightly severe note that I haven’t found so far in 2024.

The Bertheau 2024s are a hedonistic treat, but to call it a great vintage is stretching it a bit … or a lot actually … but joyful and hedonistic they are … and for me, this is the most important!

Domaine François Bertheau Chambolle-Musigny 2024

François Bertheau has found the vivid and fruity side of the 2024 vintage. The Chambolle village is rather cool and vivid. Classic Chambolle minerality with fine acidity and refined mid-palate fruit. A delightful village … moderate density … but showing very well.

Domaine François Bertheau Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 2024

The Chambolle 1er Cru is juicy, airy and elegant. No hot notes … just intense and quite silky fruit … adorable with the red fruit. Framboise … fine Chambolle minerality … what more can I ask for ? It’s not very complex … however, it has a nice deep fruit.

The Chambolle Charmes is a step-up, sensual, intense, and energetic fruit with very vivacious mid-palate. I always adore the Chambolle Charmes … what a treat. Love the defined minerality … wow … lovely silky feel.
