These are exciting times at Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg, with its new guest rooms in La Maison de Jacqueline just opened. Vosne-Romanée is all of a sudden brimming with life and tempting offers.
And there’s more!
The 2022s, shown to me by Marie-Andrée Nauleau-Mugneret, are in my view the most tempting and delicate wines that have been produced at this estate in a long time. They are delightfully vivid and have all the liveliness and complexity one could ask for.
The ’22s are shaped by generous yields, and while keeping within the rules – preferably below 45 hectolitres/hectare – they are nonetheless high for older vines and big terroirs like Clos de Vougeot and Echezeaux.
That said, clearly the yields are not too high in this case, as all the wines are showing beautiful complexity and hedonism. They are truly lovely; effortless and vivid.

Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg Bourgogne 2022
The Bourgogne 2022 is fresh and vivid with good concentration. Despite 30% new oak it is still lively and delicate with the classic Mugneret-Gibourg style. What a lovely wine; tremendous energy and freshness, and the perfect level of extraction. The yield, at 32hl/ha, is the lowest in the 2022 portfolio!
(Drink from 2026) – Very Good – (87p) – Tasted from cask 02/11/2023 –
Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg Vosne-Romanée 2022
The Vosne Village is lively and vivid, and even with 45% new oak, it’s light-footed and effortless in its expression. Not at all a heavy wine, this still has fine concentration. With clear Vosne spiciness and floral elements, it is magnificent. The wine represents perhaps a hypothetical blend between 2019 and 2021. The 2022s here offer tremendous hedonistic joy.
(Drink from 2030) – Fine – (90-91p) – Tasted from cask 02/11/2023 –
