Terroir Insight: Domaine des Croix – Corton La Vigne au Saint

Vin d’émotion: La Vigne au Saint in the hands of David Croix often has that special touch and energy.

David Croix is for me one of Corton’s masters, who on occasion transforms this grand cru into a hedonistic treasure and a true wine of pleasure.

La Vigne au Saint is an overlooked Corton that I adore, so let’s take a closer look at this wine from the very bottom of the Corton hill.

The Domaine des Croix plots of Corton La Vigne au Saint

David Croix makes three Cortons: La Vigne au Saint, a Corton Greves and a Corton-Charlemagne from Le Charlemagne (two plots).

Domaine des Croix owns one plot in La Vigne au Saint (what a poetic name!). It is one of the smallest appellations on the Corton hill.

There are three (or if you are cocky, only two) producers in this vineyard: Meo-Camuzet and Domaine des Croix. There is also Louis Latour, which owns plots on the most of the Corton hill but rarely rises to anything exciting.

The Vigne au Saint terroir is only 2.46 ha in total. Domaine des Croix owns 0.2877 ha in the western end of the vineyard next to the Meo-Camuzet plot.
