Terroir Insight: Domaine des Croix Corton Les Grèves

David Croix has opened my eyes to red Corton, with his work at both Camille Giroud and Domaine des Croix.

As I mentioned in a previous article, David Croix is for me one of Corton’s masters. He has the ability to transform this big grand cru into a hedonistic treasure and a true wine of pleasure.

The Corton Grèves is perhaps his greatest effort from the Corton hill, despite strong competition from his La Vigne au Saint. Let’s take a closer look at the Grèves.

The Domaine des Croix plot of Corton Grèves

David Croix makes three Cortons: La Vigne au Saint, Grèves. and Corton-Charlemagne from Le Charlemagne (two plots).

Domaine des Croix owns its plot in Les Grèves, one of the smallest appellations on the Corton hill with only 2.32 ha in total – smaller even than La Vigne au Saint.

Des Croix owns 0.5500 ha in the middle of the small vineyard, which is in the midst of Louis Latour territory. A part of the wine from Les Grèves goes into the Latour Corton Grancey cuvée each year.
