The harvest has now started … with the reds … as we see serious struggles with getting sufficient ripeness in the whites.
There is a good acidity so there is time to wait … if Botrytis and other fungus are not taking over the vineyards.
It is however time for a small update article on the 2024s … as a vintage.
This is written with a generous hand very little reservations … i.e. how I feel this morning (11/09/2024).
Ripeness is a problem
The main problem is now the low ripeness … 12,5% alcohol without chaptalisation is very good in 2024 and sadly I hear quite some struggle with even reaching 10% for some whites without chaptalization.
