The 2001 Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte is still a bit backward and need some time in the glass to unfold. In the nose some initial reduction but this blows off after 20 min – revealing a lovely yellow fruits with quite some secondary notes brought forward by the intense minerality. On the palate a lovely balance between the quite rich fruit and the slightly frisky acidity. The fruit is getting slightly buttery after some time in the glas offering a nice balance to the powerful minerality in the long and intense finish. Impressive for the vintage … need a bit of time to unfold fully.
