Bourgogne 2019: A Second View

Back in Burgundy after a break of nearly four months due to travel restrictions, I’m ready to embrace Bourgogne and the 2019 vintage again.

We are now four months further into elevage, and a clearer picture is emerging. My optimistic first look is confirmed, although with some refining adjustments.

So let’s get enchanted, seduced and spellbound by the delightful 2019s!

The warm, vivid, energetic, lively 2019s

It is still quite early, but the smile and true joy seen in many vignerons shows that the 2019s are something special – truly special.

Let’s be clear from the outset: 2019 is a generous vintage, rather hot, and in some cases even hotter than 2018. One should never forget this fact, although the wines go far in helping to hide the vintage’s warm influences.
