Harvest of the 2015 vintage has just started in Burgundy, as the first whites are now being picked.
It’s expected that harvest of the reds will begin next week .. so busy times in Burgundy.
I have collected some photos from different vignerons, just to show the state of the grapes and the vineyards- see below.
The quality of the 2015 vintage .. before picking
In general the harvest looks great … with the reds from Cote de Nuits showing the best promise. According to my sources quality further south is perhaps showing more variation, but most vignerons seems very optimistic.
It’s still hot in Burgundy, so it’s in my view essential that the whites are harvested in time, as the grapes can mature very quickly at these temperatures. So hopefully most producers get the grapes in before the acidity and freshness is lost.
Good luck to all with the 2015 harvest – it’s looking very fine indeed-
