Time to taste the Vogüé wines from cask – after completed malo – all ready to taste .. and what a delightful surprise.
So are they that good … indeed – the 2017 are showing just beautifully.
The 2017s at Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé
The 2017 vintage at Vogüé comes after the frosted 2016 vintage, and is a mush larger vintage – Vogüé lost 70% of the harvest in 2016. The 2017 harvest are pretty normal quantity wise.
Vogüé has been very careful regarding the yields in 2017, as the growth in the vineyards was very strong after the frost in 2016.
The harvest at Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé
The yield at Vogüé were held at 30 – 35 hl/ha in 2017, so around normal although more than some of the limited years. The harvest started relatively early on September 2. 2017.
Now that the malolactic fermentation is done – we can really taste the 2017s – and I must say that they are even better than expected. Forward, fruity and vibrant … delightful wines.
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Chambolle Musigny 2017
The Chambolle village is extremely charming and forward with a lovely vivid sorbet fruit. The fruit is transparent and fresh – charming with a nice ripe sweetness. The lovely sorbet fruit is rather typical for the vintage. Lovely balance in this wine. Acidity is difficult to setting the scene .. lovely depth and length. A gorgeous wine.
