The year 2021 is becoming quite sad in the Burgundian world. Yesterday, Friday, Aug. 20, we lost Becky Wasserman Hone.
With Becky’s passing, we have lost one of the truly great wine personalities. Her influence and inspiration cannot be measured in inches and ounces, and she will be missed by us all in the years to come.
“Curiosity is, in great and generous minds, the first passion and the last.”
Samuel Johnson
Becky, her husband Russell, and sons Peter and Paul never lost their curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring the Burgundy scene and market. Countless are the vignerons she discovered over the years – a testimony to the knowledge and urge to explore that stayed with Becky to her last day.
I know that Russell, Peter, and Paul all have the passion and curiosity to take up the baton and continue Becky’s legacy.
She will be sorely missed.
