The Romanee Saint-Vivant from Domaine Cathiard is a very pristine bottle – rare, expensive and first and foremost a tremendous glass of pinot.
It is rare to see wines match the price of DRC – but on occasion the Cathiard Romanée Saint-Vivant is seen to match the RSV from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – and while prices are one thing, It does however indicate that the Romanée-Saint-Vivant from Cathiard is a very special wine indeed.
Here is the history behind the Cathiard plot …
Current ownership overview for Romanee Saint-Vivant
Setting the scene – there are currently 10 owners of Romanée Saint-Vivant – with Domaine Cathiard being the 10th largest and smallest owner alongside Domaine Dujac. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti own 5.3 ha – i.e. more than 55% of the 9.44 ha.

Outstanding article!
I’ve had this wine from all of the current producers and usually the Leroy is the best.
I’ll try the Sylvain Cathiard 2015,if its available in the USA.
Usually its out of New York,,but the selection isn’t very good and again the present prices are outrageous !
I was a broker and I am quite familiar with the margins!

I highly recommend the Cathiard cuvée … although I’m sure the Leroy versions are great.
