Terroir Insight: Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron Romanée-Saint-Vivant

In my view, Romanée-Saint-Vivant is one of the most sensual and enchanting of the grands crus. The perfumed refinement of a great RSV is almost unmatched (aside from two monopoles just above the vineyard).

Domaine J-J Confuron is one of the less prominent producers within this fine vineyard, and given the improvement from some of the other growers, Confuron must feel a bit of pressure from names like Cathiard, Dujac and Hudelot-Noëllat.

That said, the vineyard holdings of J-J Confuron are interesting, as they have same origin as the fabeled and neigbouring plot of Domaine Leroy. So let’s take a closer look.

The J-J Confuron Romanée-Saint-Vivant

Domaine J-J Confuron owns 0.4982 ha and is the fifth-largest owner of Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The holdings include two cadastre plots (300 and 298) located in the northern part of the appellation, between the almost equally large holdings of Hudelot-Noëllat and Leroy – see map below.
