The Burgundy year 2019 is moving rapidly towards its end after many memorable moments. To be honest, I hate mission statements and other statements of objectives, but in the end they can be a useful rounding out of the year.
The vins d’émotion – what’s in the glass
Missions and statements are fine, but in the end, the contents of the glass and the exciting producers I discover and meet are of more crucial importance.
Luckily, there is a regular flow of new, talented vignerons starting estates or invigorating older family Burgundian domaines.
New talents are, if not in abundance, at least in ample quantity. We are indeed lucky.
My most exciting visit
My most exiting visit in 2019 was without doubt Maison des Joncs – or should I say Jaeok Chu Cramette, who is now the winemaker at Château Grillet in the Rhone valley.
