There is a new wine in the Domaine Ramonet portfolio in the 2014 vintage – Chassagne-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret – not to be confused with the Les Caillerets also coming from the Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets vineyard.
So lets take a closer look at this new cuvée.
Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets – one appellation four or five vineyards
The Chassagne vineyards can be confusing as the same area can be sold under different names. This is also the case with Chassagne-Montrachet les Caillerets – one of the very best 1er crus in the Chassagne appellation – especially if one consider Blanchots-Dessus as a part of the Montrachet area.
Les Caillerets is located south and above the village of Chassagne-Montrachet – see map below. It’s a large 1er cru – 10.86 ha – that consist of four terroirs – En Caillerets (1) 5.11 ha, Chassagne (3) 1.14 ha, Les Combards (4) 0.65 ha and Vigne Derriere (2) 3.76 ha) … and then apparently also a Clos inside Vigne Derriére – called Clos du Cailleret (5).
