Les Amoureuses is mythical and regardless of the producer always difficult to find. The most difficult to acquire seems to be the very rare bird from Domaine Georges Roumier – the 7th largest owner of this prestigious 1er cru.
I have rarely tasted Les Amoueuses from Roumier .. but the ones I have enjoyed have been magnificent adding a delicacy to the lovely Roumier style found in the other wines from this impressive estate.
The Roumier Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is one of the best wines from this fine 1er cru, and while many offer fine quality this is perhaps the most prominent wine from the appellation amongst the collectors.
So lets go to Les Amoureuses .. to take a look at the terroir.
Chambolle Musigny Les Amuoureuses – two sections
The vineyard Les Amoureuses is divided in two sections – one above the road to Chateau Clos de Vougeout and just north of Musigny – and one below the road and below the plot located adjacent to the northern end of Musigny – see map below.
The second section is by far the largest an it cover the area from the road down towards the village of Vougeot .. a quite steep hill and to the north the 1er cru Les Hauts Doix is following Amoureuses and the road between Chambolle and Vougeot.
Domaine Georges Roumier, Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses – the plots
Roumier has four plots of Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses all located in the southern end of the vineyard – just below the road between Chambolle-Musigny and Chateau Clos de Vougeot – and just north ot the main plots of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé.
