Schloss Lieser, Brauneberger Juffer Kabinett 2010

The 2010 vintage in Mosel is quite extreme with very high acidity. The result is some unique wines especially in the sweet categories. The high acidity is however a challenge in the Kabinett and Spätlese categories. The Schloss Lieser Juffer Kabinett 2010 is a quite extreme wine with high acidity – maybe also to high! The bouquet is fresh, with a lot of minerality and some notes of tropical fruits. On the palate quite dense, with a depth oand power of a big Spätlese or a light Auslese. Good body and fruit with a fine minerality. The acidity is powerfull but well integrated in the mid palate, but sadly the finish is dominated by a acidity afterburner – not really enjoyable at this point. I really like Schloss Lieser, and normally also high acidity, but this wine needs many years in the cellar to integrate and soften the acidity – and will the fruit and sweetness survive to balance the wine.
