On June 17th 2018 an amazing 855 bottles and 209 magnums of Henri Jayer Burgundies were on auction in Geneva. The auction is held by Baghera/Wine and the wines comes directly from the cellar of the former Henri Jayer estate in Vosne-Romanée – as the sellers are the daughters of the legendary Henri Jayer.
The auction also include a few other items – tools and casks – from the Jayer estate – and furthermore the auction have given some new detailed insights in the work of Henri Jayer.
Baghera/Wine have had access to the notes and books of Henri Jayer, and this does give us some new details, that can help us understand the production of the mesmerising Jayer wines – how many bottles were in fact made – and so forth.
The harvest 1978
One of the interesting details is the harvest reports made by Jayer – where the quantities harvested can be seen along with the area owned and rented within the different appellation.
